The 40th Annual Hal Jackson's Talented Teens International Scholarship Competition in association with Shining Diamond Productions took place in Bermuda.
Young women from around the world who are gifted in the fields of music, dance, stage performance, instrumentation or acting came together and participated in the 40th Annual Hal Jackson's Talented Teens International (HJTTI) Scholarship Competition sponsored by the Youth Development Foundation, Inc. The week-long event was held in Bermuda. The Talented Teens Summit took place from Saturday, July 17th through Sunday, July 25, 2010. The Talented Teens delegates and HJTTI Directors stayed at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel. The 2010 HJTTI winner is 17 year-old Jacquelin Harris, an exceptional dancer from Charlotte, North Carolina.
On Friday, July 23, 7:00 PM the HJTTI Preliminary Competition was held in the Fairmont Southampton Hotel Mid-Ocean Ampitheater where the top 10 finalists were chosen. On Saturday, July 24 at 7:30 PM all of the delegates appearend in the 40th Annual HJTTI competition - "40 Years: Moving Forward and Giving Thanks." The special guest performers that evening were The Legendary Ladies of Skyy and Omarion.
This event was sponsored by the Youth Development Foundation, Inc. which provides a support system for young women and offers exposure to the entertainment industry, encourages cross-culture exchange, and nurtures emerging talent from around the world while providing training, educational scholarships, and travel opportunities for these young women. HJTTI has awarded over $1,500,000 in scholarships and prizes to its participants over the 40 years of its existence. Some of the past winners of HJTTI are Jada Pinkett Smith, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Vanessa Williams.
